The Ruby Wood Band
This is a great group of seasoned jazz musicians from the
Yorkshire area. We play our own arrangements of standards and some lesser
known works by people such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea
and Jeanne Lee.

Extra Curricular
This is the most recent of all my projects. Bringing together
musicians from a variety of different backgrounds, Extra Curricular sets
out to shatter musical barriers. Our sound creatively blends the spontenaity
and improvation of jazz, the raucousness of hiphop and the sweet sound
of soul into a gumbo of original material that aims to touch all. Check

Ruby & Noah Acoustic
Soul
Noah Burton and I formed our duo in 2003 when we
met at college in Huddersfield. Noah's versatility on a number of different
instruments attracted me and we started to write songs together with Noah
playing guitar.
Influenced by neo-soul, reggae
and jazz our music has a natural, raw and organic feel, with beautiful
guitar playing, deep thoughtful lyrics and exciting melodic passages.
Noah is also lead singer with the
band Project
Sunset.

The Ruby Wood/
Dave Nelson Duo
Me
and Dave Nelson on piano have
a great chemistry and have played lots of gigs around West Yorkshire in
recent months. Our
set ranges from standards such as But Not For Me, Lover Come Back to
Me and Stolen Moments, through Blues in the Night, to
soul classics such as Ain't No Sunshine and Feel Like Making
Love.
We will be touring around the North of England in 2007 and welcome enquiries
from promoters.

Ella
and the Great American Songbook
During 2006 I worked with
a quartet comprising Sean Miller (piano), Gareth Parry (guitar), Pete Turner
(bass) and Eryl Roberts (drums) performing a classic set of standards in
my own style, including Take the A Train, Blue Skies, Sophisticated Lady
and Ruby My Dear. The set was recorded live and released on CD
by Jellymould Jazz. This project
was supported with a grant from Arts Council England. |
